Gartner has suggested that that the Business Process Outsourcing industry is likely to grow by 19 percent by 2013, which means that the BPO industry will be worth circa $1.2 billion by 2011 and $1.8 billion by 2013.
Gartner said that the sector faced a recession during 2009. This resulted from the financial crisis in the developed economies that had a significant effect on the sector’s expansion rate, creating downward pressure on margins and volumes. However, It was no surprise that the local BPO industry of India has experienced an increase of 7.3 per cent.
Gartner’s Research Director, TJ Singh, said that in the interim, considerable adjustments are happening. There is now more focus on service quality, M&A’s are being finalized across the board, value-based services are preferred. The impact of all these developments would be felt in the long-term.
It is also reported that there has been a demand increase for Pan Asian delivery models and BPO services within Asia-Pacific.
