The ABPOA endorsed Special Olympics Celebrity Golf Day event was held at the beautiful Avondale Golf Club in Sydney on the 5th October 2011. Just over 80 golfers enjoyed the pre-game BBQ lunch, 18 holes of golf on one of Australia’s best golf courses, great weather, after game drinks, networking and a sensational evening meal and entertainment package, which included a welcome address from Peter Springett (Public Officer of the ABPOA & Vice Chairman of Special Olympics), an inspirational presentation by Shaun Bender, one of the Special Olympic athletes and an outstanding motivational talk and ‘mind over matter’ demonstration (you must see this!) by triple Olympic athlete, Olympic gold & bronze medal winner and great lady, Kerri Pottharst OAM.
